What work I am doing now
Now I'm working at Upenn McKay Orthopedics Research Laboratory. It's a department which is mainly focus on skeleton structure. what I am researching field is spine. We buy some gene edited mouse from a lab then breed them to get some gene mouse which genotypes we wanted. After getting enough mouse we euthanize them in order to dissect their body and harvest their spines. Next, we extract cells from those spines and isolate the NP cells (Nucleus Pulposus Cell) . Finally, we use the NP cells foe single cell RNA sequence. The aim of this study is to understand the development of the spine and protect our spine and prevent related disease. This is one of experiment I'm following. I also do some cell culture such as cell passage, staining, counting for Mucopolysaccharidosis study in our lab. Mucopolysaccharidosis (MPS) is a real disease. Due to a group of inherited lysosomal storage disorders caused by a single enzyme deficiency and impaired cartilage-to-bone conversion. Patients who have this disease are short stature or other progressive skeletal defects from an early age. We would like to find exactly mechanism and try to help doctors to develop better treatment options for the patients. It is a huge theme for me to write, hope you could understand it.
